By Jack Engelhard
Congratulations to all those across the Non-Fox News media landscape…The New York Times, NPR, CBS, NBC, ABC et al…you got your man comfy back in the White House, so now you can tell it like it really is. That is, after years of lies and evasions, you can tell the truth for a change.
It’s okay. It’s safe. He’s in like Flynn. The truth can come out wherever it is.
From the moment your man came on the scene you covered for him at a loss of your integrity and your editorial judgment. You forgot rule number one; tell a story from both sides. You stopped being journalists. You became shills and hucksters and snake oil salesmen. By suppression and by deception you kept us in the dark.
By perversion and by distortion you kept us stumbling eyes wide shut. By hook and by crook you fixed your headlines to favor one man, one argument. By cunning and by mockery you slandered his opponent. By flagrant dishonesty you failed us and you failed yourselves upon your duty to keep us informed… and nothing is more dangerous than a population that receives propaganda in the guise of news.
By stealth and deceit you built a fence around your man and you kept us blind to the truth, and over the years you danced us about his cronies and his czars and you played us about the guns to Mexico and you toyed with us over the folly in Libya and the disgrace over Hurricane Sandy. All that you hid from us or contrived to his benefit.
The press is supposed to be and is expected to be adversarial.
The adoration speaks of something weird. Last time I saw that was in another country where people were goosestepping.
Where was your shame when you, the Washington Press Corps, were passed over for briefings in favor of Jon Stewart?
This is not about Democrat and it is not about Republican. It’s about being square and truthful with the American people.
No sense of honor to your craft? No allegiance to “get the story at all cost?” What happened? Where was your Woodward? Where was your Bernstein? How did the attorney general get to slip and slide from under the Fast and Furious scandal? This was a story waiting to get told. We were waiting. We the people can handle the truth. You can’t keep playing us for suckers.
Or maybe you can.
What’s to be said of We The People when to know what’s happening we’re obliged to “read all about it” on Comedy Central?
Back to Libya, four Americans are dead due to negligence from the top and all across the board. Will this story get told?
Will we finally get the truth about that and everything else? Will we finally get some journalism?
It’s okay now. It’s safe. You did your job in presenting half the truth that is fit to print and broadcast.
Now it’s time to proceed with the whole truth and nothing but the truth. The nation waits.
