Dear Editors: Now Can We Spill The Beans?

By Jack Engelhard

Congratulations to all those across the Non-Fox News media landscape…The New York Times, NPR, CBS, NBC, ABC et al…you got your man comfy back in the White House, so now you can tell it like it really is. That is, after years of lies and evasions, you can tell the truth for a change.

It’s okay. It’s safe. He’s in like Flynn. The truth can come out wherever it is.

From the moment your man came on the scene you covered for him at a loss of your integrity and your editorial judgment. You forgot rule number one; tell a story from both sides. You stopped being journalists. You became shills and hucksters and snake oil salesmen. By suppression and by deception you kept us in the dark.

By perversion and by distortion you kept us stumbling eyes wide shut. By hook and by crook you fixed your headlines to favor one man, one argument. By cunning and by mockery you slandered his opponent. By flagrant dishonesty you failed us and you failed yourselves upon your duty to keep us informed… and nothing is more dangerous than a population that receives propaganda in the guise of news.

Get Used To Obama, Stupid — Jack Engelhard

If you’re afraid, as I am, about another four years under Obama – tough. He’s in, in like Flynn.

The conservative in me hopes for the best, but I’m a gambler and my money says that once again the Republicans are a bad bet.

They have only themselves to blame. O how they keep blowing chances! Last time they gave us what’s-his-name, a great war hero but a lousy campaigner. Ditto this time around…and I came to this realization while watching that kid on some talk show – Paul Ryan, right?

So underwhelming, this kid. Absolutely generic.  I can’t dislike him but can’t like him, either.

Obama/Romney/Clooney and Best President Money Can Buy

By Jack Engelhard

Apparently, the love of money is the root of all politics.

I thought we were broke…so broke that China has become our Sugar Daddy…so broke that our president bows to the king of Saudi Arabia.

So where is all this money coming from and where did the recession go?

A few weeks back George Clooney held a fundraiser that netted Barack Obama $15 million – this on top of the nearly $200 million Obama already has stashed away for his Second Coming. (The exact figure is $196, 909, 097, as of March, per NY Times.) I imagine that Romney also has some money coming in, plus his own wealth, but nothing compared to the incumbent.

In case you think this is a rant against one single candidate, Obama, no, it’s about finding and funding the best president money can buy…either party.

The Times and others are joyful, telling us that these figures prove that Obama is as popular as ever. Yes, money talks and yes, money measures love.

If greed is good, it’s especially good when it comes to purchasing high office.

I used to think that we’re supposed to vote for the wisest man or woman in the land. I was wrong. We vote for the money.

Who is most qualified? The man who strikes it rich!

Emma Thompson Headlines “Boycott Israel”

When it comes to Israel, everybody’s a critic

By Jack Engelhard

Dear World, another boycott? This is so 1930s!

Quick question before we move ahead — suppose a Jewish “West Bank” scientist discovers the cure for cancer, will this too be boycotted?

Now to the headline: English actress Emma Thompson (the new and improved Vanessa Redgrave) has joined a growing list of theatrical luminaries in demanding that Israel’s national theater company, Habima (based in Tel Aviv), be disinvited from performing at next month’s drama festival at London’s Globe Theater.  In effect, a boycott and the Nuremberg Laws all over again.

Was there ever a boycott against England for its Irish Troubles?

From the moment Shakespeare gave us Shylock, European anti-Semitism has been enjoying a continuous revival without end.

Dear World, another quick question – suppose you prepare yet another Holocaust for us but this time we won’t come?

Dirty Politics? Are You Kidding? By Jack Engelhard

Dirty Politics? You Must Be Kidding

Jack Engelhard

We’ve been warned that as primary season moves along, we’ll, it’s going to get ugly. Get ready for smear campaigns, attack ads – no mercy, no prisoners.

Yes, we’re being told, Dirty Politics will rule. (Ooh. I’m so scared.)

Psst: here’s a tip. We don’t even qualify as amateurs here in America. Take Kenya, please. The whole country is in an uproar because of a dispute as to who won the latest election for the top seat. Hundreds, maybe thousands, have been hacked to death in this tribal bloodbath, villages uprooted, and thousands sent scattering.

That’s dirty politics!

Saudi Prince Haunts Murdoch

By Jack Engelhard

Billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal…this is the man who donated $27 million to Palestinian terrorists during a Saudi “telethon.”

This is the man who offered Mayor Rudy $10 million upon the proposition that we, the United States, admit that we ourselves were responsible for 9/11.

Rudy said, “No thanks.”

Rupert Murdoch, however, said thanks when Alwaleed offered to buy a share of Murdoch’s empire, and thus Alwaleed became the company’s second largest shareholder at 10 percent. Or perhaps it was son James Murdoch who invited in the Prince. Rupert is known as a friend of Israel.

Not so James, who at this moment sits on the hot seat before an investigative committee at Parliament on the matter of widespread phone/email-hacking – COINCIDENTALLY on 9/11 survivors — which threatens to bring down the entire Murdoch empire. James Murdoch once referred to those “F…Israelis” in a meeting with former prime minister  Tony Blair – as revealed by Blair’s top aide Alastair Campbell.

Casey Anthony Bigger Than 9/11 – And Here’s Why

By Jack Engelhard

We all came together after 9/11 and we grieved properly and the media coverage was wall-to-wall – but nothing compared to this!

We’ve been in the eye of this Casey Anthony saga week by week, hour after hour and we are more outraged at this one woman than we were against the Islamic terrorists who murdered some 3,000 of our people in Lower Manhattan. I have no answer to this lopsided span of attention, only a guess or two.

Salinger’s Protest from Dachau

By Jack Engelhard

We don’t have to wonder what J.D Salinger would have thought of the world today even as Israel fights back mobs from Syria and prepares for more bloodlust from its enemies domestic and abroad. Salinger told it plainly and powerfully in his novel “The Catcher in the Rye,” published in 1951, and following that, in his 60 years of retreat into silence. He would have called his vow of silence, “The fire between the words.”

“The Catcher in the Rye,” one of the most admired novels of the century past and present, is a work of loathing and lamentation despite its teenage lingo.

Holden Caulfield seeks truth and purity but finds mendacity and corruption. Justice, justice, he pursues. Do I suggest that Salinger was Biblical? Well, he certainly was Jewish. He was born to a Jewish father and not till later, after his Bar Mitzvah, did he find out that his mother was Catholic, passing for Jewish. (Please, save the technicalities for later.)

In his humility he never prided his Jewishness, nor did he ever shame it, like Philip Roth.

Along the way to his fame as one of our greatest writers, something happened to Salinger that demands our attention at this very moment as we brace for Israel’s summer of discontent, which has already started at all sides from a world that, once again, won’t calm down until it gets what it wants…

Salinger is our witness to what happened before and to what can happen again.

Strauss-Kahn’s Lynch Mob – Engelhard Saw This Coming

“Jack Engelhard was right and the rest of the world was wrong.”

I’m the only guy who came to this guy’s defense immediately after rape and assault charges were brought against him — while EVERYBODY else rejoiced with mockery and derision against this man. Now — as reported in the NY TIMES, CNN and all over the world — the case is falling apart because the ALLEGED victim has serious credibility issues. So says the prosecution itself. She’s reported to have lied about a previous alleged rape.

Strauss-Kahn, it appears, was himself the victim — the victim of a frame-up, for money, of course.

My gut, my news instinct saw this coming. The man may not be TOTALLY innocent (who is?) but let’s be careful before we judge any person!

I wrote the following immediately after the case became public and people all over the media were calling for his scalp.

Alert: further in this piece I write that “something smells about this case.” Of all people, Russian leader Vlad Putin agrees. As reported in today’s New York Post: “Putin told the official Kremlin web site — ‘I cannot believe that it looks the way it was initially introduced. It doesn’t sit well in my head.'” This puts me in good company — or is it bad?”

By Jack Engelhard

“As long as there are women there’s going to be trouble.” I once wrote that but should have phrased it to read “as long as there are OTHER women” etc…

We now have two cases that deal with sex – that is, the OTHER woman – but it’s not really about sex. Sex is nothing. Temptation is everything.

You’ll find that in the novel “Indecent Proposal.” But never mind. Arnold’s case is pure and simple (good cliché), but the case of Dominique Strauss-Kahn is troubling. At least I’m troubled. I’ve been troubled about this from the start. We know that throughout history even the most powerful of men have been felled by temptation.
