Saudi Prince Haunts Murdoch

By Jack Engelhard

Billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal…this is the man who donated $27 million to Palestinian terrorists during a Saudi “telethon.”

This is the man who offered Mayor Rudy $10 million upon the proposition that we, the United States, admit that we ourselves were responsible for 9/11.

Rudy said, “No thanks.”

Rupert Murdoch, however, said thanks when Alwaleed offered to buy a share of Murdoch’s empire, and thus Alwaleed became the company’s second largest shareholder at 10 percent. Or perhaps it was son James Murdoch who invited in the Prince. Rupert is known as a friend of Israel.

Not so James, who at this moment sits on the hot seat before an investigative committee at Parliament on the matter of widespread phone/email-hacking – COINCIDENTALLY on 9/11 survivors — which threatens to bring down the entire Murdoch empire. James Murdoch once referred to those “F…Israelis” in a meeting with former prime minister  Tony Blair – as revealed by Blair’s top aide Alastair Campbell.

Casey Anthony Bigger Than 9/11 – And Here’s Why

By Jack Engelhard

We all came together after 9/11 and we grieved properly and the media coverage was wall-to-wall – but nothing compared to this!

We’ve been in the eye of this Casey Anthony saga week by week, hour after hour and we are more outraged at this one woman than we were against the Islamic terrorists who murdered some 3,000 of our people in Lower Manhattan. I have no answer to this lopsided span of attention, only a guess or two.

Are All Men Like Weiner?

By Jack Engelhard

Before that it was Tiger, then came Arnold, and now it’s Weiner caught flagrante delicto…all that plus others too numerous to mention, including governors and even presidents…and I almost forgot that guy who heads a world bank of some sort. Back to what I keep saying, that “as long as there are other women there’s going to be trouble.”

What about all those men of the cloth and that evangelist guy?

Woody Allen said that he never meets a woman that he doesn’t mentally undress. That’s not an exact quote but you get the gist.

Are all men created equally horny – and what about women, are they totally innocent? If so, why do so many keep inviting us to view their” pix?”

Who knew that we Americans were so lustful.

(Not me. Girls, before you answer – what are you wearing, by the way?)

The Internet, OMG, what goes on there would make a sailor blush, and we’re talking millions hooking up for real or by virtual imagination.

I say this, too (in “Indecent Proposal”) that “sex is nothing. Temptation is everything.”

Strauss-Kahn’s Lynch Mob – Engelhard Saw This Coming

“Jack Engelhard was right and the rest of the world was wrong.”

I’m the only guy who came to this guy’s defense immediately after rape and assault charges were brought against him — while EVERYBODY else rejoiced with mockery and derision against this man. Now — as reported in the NY TIMES, CNN and all over the world — the case is falling apart because the ALLEGED victim has serious credibility issues. So says the prosecution itself. She’s reported to have lied about a previous alleged rape.

Strauss-Kahn, it appears, was himself the victim — the victim of a frame-up, for money, of course.

My gut, my news instinct saw this coming. The man may not be TOTALLY innocent (who is?) but let’s be careful before we judge any person!

I wrote the following immediately after the case became public and people all over the media were calling for his scalp.

Alert: further in this piece I write that “something smells about this case.” Of all people, Russian leader Vlad Putin agrees. As reported in today’s New York Post: “Putin told the official Kremlin web site — ‘I cannot believe that it looks the way it was initially introduced. It doesn’t sit well in my head.'” This puts me in good company — or is it bad?”

By Jack Engelhard

“As long as there are women there’s going to be trouble.” I once wrote that but should have phrased it to read “as long as there are OTHER women” etc…

We now have two cases that deal with sex – that is, the OTHER woman – but it’s not really about sex. Sex is nothing. Temptation is everything.

You’ll find that in the novel “Indecent Proposal.” But never mind. Arnold’s case is pure and simple (good cliché), but the case of Dominique Strauss-Kahn is troubling. At least I’m troubled. I’ve been troubled about this from the start. We know that throughout history even the most powerful of men have been felled by temptation.

Writers Should Stay Home

By Jack Engelhard

Once, yes, I did give in. I went on the Today Show and was interviewed by Matt Lauer. That’s when Indecent Proposal first came out. First my novel, then the Paramount movie.  When I watched the replay I kept referring to myself as “That guy.” As in, “Who is that guy and what is he talking about?” I wondered why “he” had no eyebrows. Was it the lighting? I came in with eyebrows!

Why is “he” not more glib? He is awfully glib at home. Where is the wit? Where is the wisdom? Where is the charm? I had it when I left the house.

My agent at the time and all the rest them said I did “beautifully.” What they meant was – I did not make a COMPLETE fool of myself and that makes it “beautiful.”

I mean it – writers should stay home. We have no business going out there to market. That’s why God invented salesmen. That’s why we write. So we won’t have to sell. It’s called – or used to be called – the gift of gab. We should have it for the typewriter, but not for the camera or the microphone. Most of us – novelists – are grumpy and moody and that’s no way to make a sale.

Ground Zero Mosque an Act of War

By Jack Engelhard

First they came for our Twin Towers. Now they come to build upon the ruins.

The New York skyline has always been the symbol of American power. This, then, is the prize. Imagine our skyline dominated by a grand mosque.

A minaret is to rise from the ashes.

This is intended to be the ultimate sign of American submission and Islamic superiority.

John W. Cassell on Indecent Proposal

What follows is a review of my novel Indecent Proposal, which has recently been re-issued by iUniverse. The novel was orignally published in 1988 by Donald I. Fine. It was then republished in 1993 by Pocket Books as a movie-tie, to coincide with the Paramount movie of the same name featuring Robert Redford and Demi Moore; based on my novel. The movie was huge, taking in $266 million box office internationally. The novel was translated into more than 22 languages. ComteQ Publishing then published a third edition — and now, here’s the iUniverse edition with a new cover and new intro. [This now is the only authentic version] But the novel is the same, same as I wrote it back in the mid-1980s on a kitchen table, sweat pouring down for the lack of air-conditioning. Next thing I knew translations of it were coming fast and furious from all over the world, and there we were walking the red carpet in Hollywood. Between takes in Vegas, Robert Redford said, “You wrote the novel?” I pleaded guilty. “Nice job,” he said.

Redford also said, “I’ve always wanted to write a novel.” I told him to stick to his day job. He was doing all right as an actor.

So what follows are the words of John W. Cassell. I’ll take tributes like this any day, from a writer of such high stature. Read HIS books!

I was very pleased to discover that Jack Engelhard is re-releasing his Leviathan INDECENT PROPOSAL on iUniverse.  It should be “up” on amazon within the next few days. [Ed Note: The iUniverse edition, published July 9, 2010, is now up and available at Amazon]
